I am a climate and weather enthusiast. In my spare time, I study Santa Barbara's climate and weather patterns. Below are some plots showing the area's precipitation history. Time permitting, I will update these figures, and track other aspects of the area's climate.
dry to the bone?
Santa Barbara averages roughly 18 inches of rain per year. Some fear that the area will receive less rain as the climate warms. Has that occurred?
'Tis the season
Some find that there will be large changes to seasonal precipitation patterns in California. Is fall becoming dryer, or winter wetter? What about spring? Summer doesn't count. S/he never gets rained on!
Here comes that rainy day
Climate change may mean that California experiences fewer rainy days, but that rainfall will be more intense when it falls. Has Santa Barbara experienced a decrease in the total number of rainy days per year?
